Over the weekend, the Miss Tourism Uganda regional search moved to the Eastern region, where 21-year-old Amali Phiona Rhoda from Tororo District was crowned the regional queen.

The event, held on Saturday at Majik Resort in Busia District, marked yet another milestone in the lead-up to the national finale scheduled for September 5, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Amali emerged as the overall winner after impressing judges with her poise, cultural knowledge, and ability to represent the region’s tourism potential. Despite mixed reactions online—particularly around public perceptions of beauty—judges praised Amali for excelling in all aspects of the competition.

Joining her on the podium were Khaitsa Mary and Maka Asha, who were named first and second runners-up respectively, rounding off a well-organized and spirited regional event.

The three finalists will represent the Eastern region at the grand finale, where they will compete with other regional winners for the national crown and a chance to become a tourism ambassador for Uganda.
