Residents of Nalugala ward, Katabi town council in Wakiso District on Saturday evening were left in shock after a mother took the life of her own daughter.
Tumusiime Gorette chopped off her 7-year-old daughter’s head and later locked herself up in her house.
According to residents, Tumusiime has been living with her husband and their daughter the late Aisha, and that this evening as her husband got back home found blood oozing out of their door step, something that alarmed him and informed the neighbours who later called the LC chairman.
Upon the area Councillor Semukuye Jonathan reaching at the scene, together with other LC 1 officials, they broke the door and found that Gorette was busy drinking paraffin to take her own life as well and it was a tug of war to stop Tumusiime from taking the paraffin.
Residents over powered Tumusiime and within a few minutes, a police patrol from Kisubi station arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.
Later police took the dead body plus Tumusiime for further investigations.
Residents have been left in shock as they are uncertain what prompted Tumusiime to carry out such an act.
