Police have arrested 18 people, including two women, during an operation targeting suspected dealers in stolen motor vehicle accessories at two arcades in Kisekka Market, Kampala.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, during a four-hour intelligence-led operation at Ravens Plaza and Life Arcade following complaints about the theft of vehicle parts from parked cars and vehicles caught in traffic jams.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said the operation was conducted by officers from Jinja Road Police Station between 11am and 3pm as part of efforts to break up networks involved in stealing and selling vehicle accessories.
Police recovered several suspected stolen items, including vehicle grilles, side mirrors, baby mirrors, headlamps, rear lamps and other motor vehicle accessories.

Kawala said the operation followed complaints from members of the public who had reported losing vehicle accessories, particularly during traffic jams and when their vehicles were parked.
The 18 suspects are being held in police custody for screening as investigations continue to establish their possible involvement in the theft and illegal trade of motor vehicle spare parts.
Police said the operation is part of wider efforts to dismantle criminal networks responsible for stealing vehicle accessories and supplying them to dealers in the city.
The force said investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
