Ugandan musician Allan Toniks real name, Allan Ampaire, has found himself at the centre of controversy after making a bold and arguably disrespectful comment about fellow artist Rema Namakula.

The drama unfolded last evening on X (formerly Twitter), after Galaxy FM’s popular X page shared a glowing photo of Rema Namakula.

The caption celebrated her beauty and playfully suggested that her husband, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya, had truly “hit the jackpot” by marrying her.

The post quickly gained traction, amassing likes and positive reactions. Fans of Rema were in full agreement, flooding the comments with heart emojis and praise for the songstress’s timeless beauty.

However, the celebratory mood shifted when Allan Toniks quoted the post with a jarring remark:
“Let’s first wash off the makeup before we start throwing words like jackpot.”

The comment, which many deemed unnecessary and mean-spirited, struck a nerve across the platform. What might have been an offhand opinion quickly turned into a nightmare for Toniks.

Within minutes, users began swarming his replies, calling out the singer for what they described as misogyny and unprovoked hate.

Many were quick to point out the irony of Tonik’s criticising others while his music career has been relatively quiet in recent years.
