Musician Jose Chameleone has opened up about the artistes who challenged him musically during his career, naming Bobi Wine, Mr Nice and the Goodlyfe duo among his notable competitors.

Chameleone said some of his strongest competition came from foreign musicians, particularly Tanzanian singer Mr Nice, whose music enjoyed popularity in Uganda.

However, he also acknowledged that Bobi Wine gave him a serious challenge when he released his hit song “Bada”.

Speaking about their rivalry, Chameleone said Bobi Wine maintained the competition until he released “Valu Valu”, which he believes helped him regain the upper hand.

“The people who really gave me competition musically in Uganda were foreigners, people like Mr Nice, but also, honestly, it is Bobi Wine, at the time he released ‘Bada’. He gave me competition until I released ‘Valu Valu’, and that brought him down,” Chameleone said in part.

The singer also identified the Goodlyfe duo, comprising the late Mowzey Radio and Weasel, as another major competitor, particularly during the early years of their careers.
