Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and son of President Museveni, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has announced plans for an upcoming meeting involving prominent figures he described as “First Sons.”

The meeting, according to Muhoozi, will bring together influential sons of former Ugandan presidents and national figures to discuss and proclaim their agenda.

“We are going to organize a meeting of President’s sons very soon. Myself, His Majesty the Kabaka, Hon. Akena, General Taban, and Hon. Oryem. We shall proclaim the agenda of the so-called ‘First Sons’,” Muhoozi said in a social media post.

Among those expected to attend is Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the son of Sir Edward Muteesa II, Uganda’s first President and a revered monarch of the Buganda Kingdom.

Also named is Hon. Jimmy Akena, the son of former President Dr. Apollo Milton Obote. Akena is a Member of Parliament and the current leader of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC), a party once led by his father.

Henry Okello Oryem, son of former President Tito Okello Lutwa, is another expected participant. Tito Okello briefly led Uganda in the mid-1980s.

Oryem currently serves as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and has been a longstanding Member of Parliament.

While Muhoozi did not provide specific details regarding the date, location, or full agenda of the meeting, the announcement has already generated public interest, with observers speculating about the implications of such a high-profile gathering of political heirs and national figures.

The reference to “proclaiming the agenda” suggests the meeting may have broader political or symbolic significance, especially as Uganda continues to navigate questions around leadership transition and legacy politics.
