Musicians Jose Chameleone and Chris Evans Kaweesi are heading into a December 4 concert clash, with Evans asking the organisers of Chameleone’s show to consider changing the date to avoid competing for the same audience.
Chameleone is scheduled to perform at Lugogo Cricket Oval, while Evans has lined up his concert at Front Page Hotel in Namasuba on the same night.
Evans has appealed to Biggie Events, the organisers of Chameleone’s show, to give his concert room to attract revelers without having to compete with another event taking place simultaneously.
The clash pits a show at the larger Lugogo Cricket Oval against Evans’ event at Front Page Hotel, raising the prospect of both artistes drawing from the same pool of concertgoers at the start of the festive season.
However, Biggie Events appears unwilling to reconsider the date, arguing that Chameleone’s concert has been publicised well in advance.
Responding to Evans’ appeal, the organiser said the concert had been advertised for a year, suggesting that the date was already established and should not be changed to accommodate another show.
“We shall all get the best concerts, Insha Allah,” she said, expressing optimism that both events could attract audiences.
She also cautioned against what she described as playing sympathy cards, signalling that the organisers did not consider themselves responsible for moving Chameleone’s concert to make way for a competing event.
With neither concert having been announced for a different date, the December 4 clash remains on the calendar, leaving fans to decide which show to attend.
