NEMA, KCCA Crack Down on Noise Pollution, Seize Equipment from 9 bars

National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has carried out an operation in conjunction with KCCA on noise pollution, confiscating sound equipment from 9 facilities.

The operation conducted today, Friday, June 12, 2026, covered the Nakawa, Kawempe, Makindye, Rubaga, and Central divisions, seizing sound equipment and other accessories from facilities that have persistently emitted noise beyond permissible levels.

Nine (9) facilities, including Climax Entertainment Hub and Paradigm Bar Lounge, have been affected, and 153 pieces of sound equipment have been impounded.

The operation also issued warning notices and sealed off facilities operating under the wrong licenses.

Emission of noise above permissible levels is an offence punishable under the National Environment Act, Cap. 181 and enforced under the National Environment (Noise Standards and Control) Regulations, 2003.
