“Maize Farming Is More Profitable Than Event Hosting,” Hon. Balaam Barugahara

Hon. Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, a renowned Events promoter and State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, believes that maize farming is more profitable than hosting events.

Speaking in a candid interview, he stressed that the years he has been in the events industry, and comparing it to maize growing, have proven that the latter is more financially rewarding than the former.

“Maizing growing is much rewarding than event organising”, he said.

He expressed his views based on experience, having been involved in both businesses for a considerable number of years.

Hon. Balaam further emphasised that the agriculture sector has great potential for youth employment and income generation.

Balaam has been active in Uganda’s entertainment industry for many years, organising top concerts and events.

In 2024, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, following his strong and consistent support for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
