The National Planning Authority has appointed Dr Rogers Matte as Deputy Executive Director, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the previous office holder.

The appointment was announced on April 1 at the Authority’s offices in Kampala.

Dr Matte, an economist and public policy expert, has been serving as Senior Manager for Research and Development Performance at NPA. He has been involved in research coordination, policy analysis and performance monitoring.

He previously represented Ntoroko County in Parliament from 2001 to 2006 and later worked with the Population Secretariat on implementing the National Population Policy. He has also lectured in macroeconomics at Kyambogo University.

NPA Manager for Information, Advocacy and Public Relations Charles Musana says the appointment comes as the Authority oversees implementation of key government frameworks, including the Fourth National Development Plan and Vision 2040.

The National Planning Authority coordinates development planning in Uganda and recently had its mandate expanded to include population and physical planning.

In related changes, Dr Winnie Nabiddo takes on the role of Senior Manager for Research and Development Performance, alongside other appointments in planning, evaluation and communications.
