The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary Caucus has resolved to support the government’s budget priorities for the Financial Year 2026/2027 and to back the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025, following guidance from Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The decision was reached during a caucus meeting held at State House Entebbe, where members aligned on key national priorities aimed at accelerating Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
Among the endorsed budget focus areas are continued investment in peace and security, expansion of road networks, enhancement of electricity infrastructure, and development of the railway system.
The Caucus also prioritized preparations for the AFCON 2027, alongside the promotion of scientific innovations to drive sustainable development.
In addition, legislators backed targeted interventions such as restocking programmes in the Teso, Lango, and Acholi sub-regions to boost household incomes and agricultural productivity.
The meeting also supported salary enhancements for primary school teachers, secondary school arts teachers, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors, and security personnel.
Some of the NRM Leaders that attended On the legislative front, the Caucus resolved to support the passage of the proposed Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2025 once it is tabled before Parliament.
Members emphasized that the proposed law is critical in safeguarding Uganda’s national interests and reinforcing institutional independence.
The meeting reaffirmed the Caucus’ commitment to advancing government priorities focused on improving service delivery, protecting national sovereignty, and sustaining the country’s development trajectory.
