Museveni Names Girma Wake Acting CEO of Uganda Airlines

President Museveni has directed the Minister for Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala to appoint Ethiopian Girma Wake as Consultant/Advisor to assist in rectifying administrative loopholes in the Uganda Airlines.

In a letter dated 13th February, 2026, President Museveni also directs that Wake will care-take as an Acting Chief Executive Officer until July, 2026 when a substantive CEO will have been appointed.

Consequently, the outgoing CEO, Jenifer Bamutaraki has been ordered to vacate office and hand-over to Mr. Wake with immediate effect.

“I also direct that the current CEO, Ms Jenifer Bamutaraki be enabled to step aside immediately and handover to Mr. Wake Girma and the Board of Uganda Airlines,” reads Museveni’s,” letter which also guides that Bamutaraki should be paid her outstanding emoluments.
