Following the successful Coffee Marathon that was held at the African Coffee Park in Ntungamo District in Western Uganda.

The first edition attracted thousands of people from all the neighbouring areas and also from other parts of the country.

The Coffee Marathon, which was the first edition of its kind in Uganda, was headlined by Uganda’s legendary singer Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo and also Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, who was paid 750M to perform, and this has raised a lot of mixed reactions from the public and Eddy Kenzo.

While appearing on the NTV Beat on Tuesday evening, singer Bebe Cool said that it was about your negotiation power and the value you present to your customer’s money. He also sent a message to Ugandan musicians who were disgruntled by the just-concluded Coffee Marathon.

According to Bebe Cool, he said that “ Eddy’s response is his response based on his understanding, but as my young brother, I’d like to use my experience and teach these young artists how and why you should or shouldn’t say certain things at certain times.”

Bebe Cool has weighed in on the ongoing debate around performance fees for international versus local artists, asserting that the difference often boils down to branding and negotiation, not bias.

He recounted his own experience during negotiations for the Tubonga Nawe project, revealing that he boldly demanded a high fee. “I remember clearly, when we were preparing to meet the NRM team for Tubonga Nawe, I made my expectations clear. I quoted a hefty figure,” he said. “The President agreed—he said if I could deliver, and that’s what my brand is worth, then I should be paid accordingly.”

Bebe Cool emphasised that what some may perceive as unfair treatment is, in many cases, simply business. “It’s not about favouritism. It’s about value and what you bring to the table,” he said.

Bebe Cool also added that “ he wants to use Coffee, I want to get two male artists and two female artists every year, invest one million dollars in each to sell those artists worldwide”
