Musicians should not be discouraged from starting their music careers simply because they lack a manager, singer Lydia Jazmine has said. This comes weeks after singer Spice Diana and Manager Roja separated after 15 years of doing business together.

Speaking during an interview on Spark TV shortly after the press conference for Gosteady’s upcoming Valentine’s Day concert scheduled for February 14 at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel Gardens, Lydia Jazmine reflected on her separation from longtime manager Bushington.

The singer, who parted ways with Bushington after working together for many years, said such decisions depend on how both parties separate and how they handled their working relationship.

She emphasised the importance of mutual respect between an artist and their manager, noting that managers often play a crucial role in shaping an artist’s career.

“There must be respect for someone who has brought you from far to where you are today. Even when you feel it’s time to try things as a solo artist, that respect has to remain because in most cases they know a lot more than you as a musician,” Lydia Jazmine said.

Addressing her own situation, the singer said she continues to hold Bushington in high regard.

“No one knows what really happened between Bushington and me, but wherever I am, I will forever respect him because he is the one who introduced me to many places and opportunities,” she said.

Lydia Jazmine also revealed that she and her former manager are still in contact, adding that they recently met and talked while in Kenya.

Explaining her frequent travels, the singer said she is working hard to expand her brand beyond Uganda. She added that she has several projects lined up and urged fans to stay patient as she prepares to release new music.

On whether she is ready to settle down and start a family, Lydia Jazmine dismissed recent dating rumours, saying she is not yet ready for that stage of her life.

“I love children so much, and I have taken care of many of them. But when it comes to family and marriage, everything has its own time, and only God knows the right time. When that time comes, people will know. For now, I am still working on becoming a better person,” she said.
