Former Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Nyendo-Mukungwe MP, Mathias Mpuuga, has launched his new polticial party called the Democratic Front (DF) ahead of the 2026 general elections. The party moves on a slogan, “Real Change, Act Now.”

Looking at the certificate from the Electoral Commission, DF is the result of renaming the Green Party.

Addressing the journalists at the party head offices in Namirembe, the party president, Mathias Mpuuga, said that DP is not limited to working with all political parties but rather is open to bringing a peace change to all Ugandans.

“We’ll work with other parties to cause change in the country. The fracturing of the opposition is a big concern to us,” Mpuuga said.

Also added saying that the party will be a home of great thinkers, and those who believe in political ethics.

“If you made a sample out there on the streets, over 70% of Ugandan voters belong to no party, and the reasons are various. The Democratic Front has the opportunity to draw from that rich array of citizenry that seeks a political home,” he said.
