National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has reported that a group of armed soldiers raided his home and assaulted members of his family in the night.

Kyagulanyi said the soldiers forcefully broke into the house and beat up his family members before isolating his wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi (also known as Barbra Itungo), in a separate room.

“A group of masked, armed soldiers has just broken into our house and beat up my family members. They have currently isolated my wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi, alone. Their intentions are unclear!” Kyagulanyi wrote.

By the time of reporting, it was not clear why the soldiers raided the home or what their mission was.

Kyagulanyi did not indicate whether any arrests had been made.

The incident has sparked concern among supporters and human rights activists, who are demanding an explanation from security agencies over the operation and the safety of the family.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the NUP spokesperson visted Bobi Wine’s home in the night to see what exactly was going on unfortunately he reports that he was denied access.

“I went to Magere to establish the goings on there, after an alert of another raid by the military on the home of Hon Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert (Bobi Wine). There are dozens of military men on the outside and visibly on the inside, some in uniform while others not. I have been denied access by the numerous gun-men, who am told have broken the house doors, assaulted the family and occupants, ransacked the house, and taken all the gadgets they could find,” he said.
