The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has urged leaders and residents of Nwoya District to prioritise unity, education, and effective political mobilisation as the country prepares for the 2026 general elections, starting with the Presidential and area members of parliament next week on Thursday,15th January.

Addressing party leaders and residents at Anaka Town Council yesterday (10th January,2026), Todwong expressed concern over the rising cases of teenage pregnancies and school dropouts in the district. He particularly highlighted the growing trend of boys abandoning school to engage in hunting, warning that the practice threatens the future of the community.

Todwong further called upon teachers to play a central role in inspiring learners to stay in school and focus on their studies, noting that educators wield significant influence over the attitudes and life choices of young people.

On party cohesion, the NRM Secretary General cautioned against internal divisions, especially between official party flag bearers and members who lean toward independent candidacies. He emphasised that the NRM remains one united party and urged members to set aside personal interests in favour of collective goals.

Todwong called on party supporters in Nwoya to work together to mobilise votes for President Yoweri Museveni, challenging the district to lead the region in delivering strong electoral support for the ruling party.

He further rallied supporters to ensure that Nwoya emerges as a “yellow district,” outperforming neighbouring areas in support for the NRM.
