The United States Embassy in Uganda has officially opened the newly relocated American Center Kampala, a dynamic hub designed to promote learning, innovation, and cultural exchange between the United States and Uganda.

The Center was officially inaugurated by U.S. Ambassador to Uganda William Popp, underscoring the enduring partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to education, opportunity, and people-to-people engagement.

The opening coincides with the 250th anniversary of United States Independence (America250), a milestone commemorating the founding values of liberty, opportunity, and self-governance.

The American Center reflects these ideals by offering open access to educational resources, including a lending library, computer lab, 3D printing facilities, free Wi-Fi, and a broad range of programs aimed at skills development and open dialogue.

“The Center embodies America’s founding ideals. It is a space for connection, learning, and opportunity,” Ambassador Popp said. “We invite everyone—students, educators, entrepreneurs, and lifelong learners—to use this Center and join us in building a brighter future rooted in knowledge and opportunity.”

The American Center Kampala continues to demonstrate strong community impact. In the past year alone, more than 8,000 patrons accessed its services.

Additionally, over 500 Ugandans have graduated from the Workforce Accelerator Program, while 300 participants have completed the Foreign Policy Executive Program.
