Police Recover Six-Year-Old Kidnapped from Kawempe, Suspect Still at Large

The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Kawala Rachael, has revealed that joint security agencies have successfully recovered six-year-old Mpirwe Tumwesigye, who was allegedly kidnapped on 12 December 2025 by a shamba boy.

According to Kawala, Mpirwe was reportedly kidnapped from Kawempe Division and has been recovered from Busukuma, Nansana municipality in Wakiso district on 19th, 12.2025 at about 7:30 pm.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that on 12 December 2025 at around 4:00 p.m., in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, Kampala District, Muchunguzi David, who was employed as a shamba boy by Dr Tumwesigye Emmanuel, left with the victim, Mpirwe Tumwesigye Abraham, the son of Dr Tumwesigye Emmanuel, to an unknown destination and failed to return”, she said. Kawala said a case of kidnapping was reported at Universal Police Post, and search operations immediately commenced.

“Through analysis of the suspect’s TikTok videos, security agencies were able to trace and successfully recover the victim”, she said.

Kawala has noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.

“The child will be handed over to his parents after undergoing a medical examination”, she said.
