National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has urged residents of Bundibugyo to unite against what he called an exploitative regime that continues to deny farmers fair economic returns.

Speaking at a rally on Thursday in Obudhingiya bwa Bwamba, Bobi Wine pointed out the challenges faced by cocoa farmers, noting that their profits do not reflect the effort they put into production.

“Bundibugyo is predominantly a cocoa-growing community, but it is absurd that the profits do not correspond with the efforts of the farmers,” he said.

He appealed to residents to support the NUP, pledging that a future NUP government would implement policies designed to ensure local farmers benefit from their labour.

“When we get into power, we shall put in place policies that accommodate all local farmers in Bundibugyo to gain from their efforts,” he added.

The rally focused on economic justice, farmer empowerment, and the need for fair market opportunities for cocoa growers, who form the backbone of Bundibugyo’s economy.
