On Friday, August 29, singer Bebe Cool unveiled the official video for Hidden Agendas, the latest release from his Break the Chains album. The track, which has been a fan favorite since the album’s debut in May, is a smooth Afro-beats tune layered with Pidgin lyrics that explore human behavior and betrayal.

Directed by Garrick Williams—best known for his work on Motivation and Circumference—the video transforms the song’s cryptic message into a gripping narrative. The story follows Bebe Cool as a man lured into deception by his own friends, only to discover too late that he has been betrayed.

The video begins with an elderly Bebe Cool recounting the tale to his grandchildren. Viewers are then taken on a journey through striking scenes: deep in the mines, in a high-stakes office deal, and finally, a tense arrest that leaves him glaring at his treacherous companions.

Unlike typical music videos that often rely on models, Hidden Agendas takes a bold cinematic approach by featuring professional actors. Casting director Kasule Douglas Benda brought together notable names such as Angel Toni Acer, known for his TV drama Crossroads alongside Cindy Sanyu, Christiano Okitwi of the famed MTN commercial, and Crispus Ogwal. Makeup artist Esther Nakaziba, founder of Karakta Makeup and Costume Festival, also played a key role in shaping the visual aesthetics.

This makes Hidden Agendas not just another music video, but a short film in its own right. It marks the third release off Break the Chains, reinforcing Bebe Cool’s intention to fuse music and film in a way that elevates both industries.

By leaning into Uganda’s growing film talent pool, Bebe Cool signals a new era of storytelling where music videos are no longer just about sound and rhythm, but also about cinematic depth and cultural expression.
