Fire Guts In Kisenyi 2 Leaving Residents Homeless

A devastating fire broke out early Wednesday morning in Kisenyi Zone 2, Kampala, destroying several homes and leaving dozens of residents homeless.

The blaze, which began at around 7 a.m., consumed property worth millions of shillings. Shocked residents struggled to salvage what they could, while others watched helplessly as their houses and belongings went up in flames.

“This is not the first time. Every year we lose everything to fires in this area,” residents lamented, noting that their businesses and livelihoods had been wiped out.

Police Fire and Rescue Services swiftly responded, managing to contain the fire before it spread further. However, the community is now calling on authorities to provide a lasting solution to the recurring tragedy.

Kampala Central Mayor, Salim Uhuru, pledged to work with city leaders and residents to find a sustainable plan for resettlement and safety.
“Development is welcome, but it must not come at the cost of people’s lives and property,” Mayor Uhuru said.

Nsubuga Ham, who oversees activities in Kisenyi, described the aftermath as “a war-like scene,” emphasizing the scale of devastation.
