This Saturday will be the final day for the NRM Election Tribunal to release the remaining rulings in response to the dissatisfaction stemming from the NRM primaries held on the 17th of this month nationwide.

So far, the tribunal has issued 180 rulings out of the 381 petitions it received from various candidates.

The rulings come from areas that include Wakiso, Iganga, Amolator, Lamwenge, Luweero, Mukono, Kisoro, Moyo, Masaka, Bukedea, Koboko, Bushenyi, and other districts.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, John Musiime, has declined to disclose the contents of the rulings before the involved parties receive them, maintaining confidentiality until the official notifications are delivered.” NRM Director of Legal Affairs, Enoch Barata, urged party members to remain calm and patient, warning against spreading false information about the tribunal’s work

The tribunal began sittings on July 29 this year, after the party released its first cause list on July 27. A supplementary list was later issued to accommodate additional cases.

All petitioners, according to tribunal officials, were granted a seven-day window within which to begin receiving their rulings.

We understand that there is increasing pressure from senior NRM leaders, including cabinet ministers and incumbent MPs, who have been asking the tribunal to dismiss the petitions filed against them. Some of them have described the cases as baseless and a waste of time.
