The Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, on Thursday warned his subjects against allowing politicians to use them to weaken the kingdom.

Speaking in a televised address during his 32nd coronation celebrations at Kibuli Mosque in Kampala, Kabaka Mutebi thanked Buganda’s leaders for their steadfastness and expressed gratitude to both local and international supporters of the kingdom’s work.

“The political scene is one of the paths that enemies of Buganda usually use, beware of them,” the Kabaka said. He urged his subjects to “continue working hard for yourselves than crying and waiting for those who will take you [and] derail you off the course.”

Kabaka Mutebi also encouraged his subjects to remain courageous and continue advocating for issues important to the kingdom.

“We thank you every day for being brave and sticking to those issues that pertain our Kingdom,” he stated. “Avoid all those who have made it a habit to [hide] behind laws which are not real in order to weaken Buganda Kingdom; we have seen this several times.”
