Hon. Al-Hajji Nsereko Muhammad, the Kampala Central Member of Parliament, has announced his candidacy for the 2026 presidential election.

He confirmed this on social media by sharing a poster announcing the Ecological Party of Uganda.

He plans to embark on a mass recruitment drive to register individuals who will stand on their party ticket.

“Thank you, Ecological Party of Uganda. We shall soon roll out our mass recruitment drive. We promise to make this party the largest and most progressive non-violent and non-sectarian party in the country. THE TIME IS NOW”

Muhammed Nsereko has been elected president and flag bearer of the Ecological Party of Uganda for the upcoming 2026 elections.

Early in the year, Hon. Nsereko revealed that he would not seek re-election for the Kampala Central MP position, a post he has served for three terms since 2011 to 2025. “I am not coming back for Kampala Central. I already told the people I won’t be returning; a leader is judged by their word, and my word is very clear. Secondly, I’m not coming for Lord Mayor”.
